Artist's Comments

Not my best work but I haven’t posted in such a long time and I hate to keep pages on hiatus .
This was made last year, the entire point of the dress was using at least 75% of the fabric on perfect bias. Still it seems I just can’t stay away form boning.
I took and original empire dress pattern and slightly modified the top since I didn’t want a sleeveless dress; then I bought an absurd amount of bias ribbons (different fabrics, colours and width) and weaved them over the corset.
The bottom are just several yards of various fabrics draped and painfully 1/8 of an inch baby hemmed.

I like the way this falls, and while not a fan of the empire line for me personally, I can most definitely see this on some sort of wispy person, looking absolutely lovely. Even if old, this would be a seriously good piece to get a few shots of in some sort of wind - either on a human or a form, it wouldn't matter.

The narrow seam on the edges that gives it a lettuce like approach to the hems is very tight, and looks really good. And the weaving of the bias tape is inspired.

Very, very, very good design here.

grazie cara. :)

This is such an in depth comment! Thank you!
I would really like to take some photos with a model, 'cause the corset doesn't look that good on the dressform... unfortunately I don't know many people who are willing to pose and live around my place.
