noodle on bias by noodle-cup noodle on bias by noodle-cup
Not my best work but I havenít posted in such a long time and I hate to keep pages on hiatus .
This was made last year, the entire point of the dress was using at least 75% of the fabric on perfect bias. Still it seems I just canít stay away form boning.
I took and original empire dress pattern and slightly modified the top since I didnít want a sleeveless dress; then I bought an absurd amount of bias ribbons (different fabrics, colours and width) and weaved them over the corset.
The bottom are just several yards of various fabrics draped and painfully 1/8 of an inch baby hemmed.

This looks beautiful! So simple and elegant, and yet, so detailed!

I love how it is imperial waisted and not boring. Usually the dresses made with that cut have only a single fabric layer and, although pretty, are not very interesting. This is very beautiful. I love the color palette and also the many different layers of fabric. Wonderful job!

This is GORGEOUS. I'm curious, what type of fabric is it that you used? It drapes so beautifully.

This is beautiful! The way you've done the ribbon and the over lay is perfect, I can only imagine the frustrations you had to endure. The way if falls is spectacular, I have no tallent for draping and I'm okay with admitting it, but you on the other hand... Wow, absolutly perfect job, for beging no one of your better pieces, I can only imagine what your best looks like.

I am in love with this dress.
It's got a beautiful gossamer quality to it.
Like it would float gently as a fairy walked
in the morning mist in it.

I want one!
I'm appalled you don't think it's one of your best.
It's leagues above my usual gowns, I love the way the hems fall leaving the bottom of each layer in a little loop. I can just see the dress moving in my mind.

Absolutely gorgeous! The ribboning looks fantastic and makes it totally unique. I don't think I have ever seen anyone wearing an outfit like this where an entire portion or element was done with weaving like that! Beautiful! :D

I like it, I like how it flows. ^^ Gee, maybe I'll have to attempt to commission you next time I fail in my attempt to find a dress (which is every time, since my "taste" is now out of fashion...)

Sorry for that Valley moment, it's a splendid design that could probably be worn on many a body time and still look fabulous.
Congrats for the DD. You deserve it immensely.
